Friday Fun Words

Here you are again, with me, the lovely Yvie. For all the new followers, Friday is when I make up definitions for word verification words so all my ape-friends may go about using them in their daily chats.

It's come to my attention recently that Mommy has placed in a writing contest and has also received blog awards.

The problem being that she never once thanked me - I, who help out with her Friday blog entries, and I who sit next to her on the couch while she types away.
Ungrateful, that's what Mommy is.

So I thought I'd share my own contest I won - that's right, all me!

Mommy is an occasional visitor to a french bulldog forum where they have a Picture of the Month contest. It's always tough to win because many of the members are also photographers.
Needless to say, Mommy has been a member for 3 years and never once have we come close to winning.

UNTIL THIS MONTH!

That's right! I am the Picture of the Month at French Bulldog Worldwide! This means I'm on the home page all month and I also qualify for the 2010 Picture of the year contest.

Here's the picture that won February:

So take that Mommy!

Onto the words!

Flonest - honesty for flowers

Moloil - what male rodents put on their fur before a date

Buntskin - the outside layer of a cake

Nonogro - herbicide you give to weeds to stop them from spreading

Litioink - a glowing pig.

Puncrum - in a pun marathon (you know, where someone says a pun, followed by someone else making an ever better one, etc) the last remaining pun. Often this pun is weaker than all the others which leads to the end of the punning thread

I'll be back to bark at you next week!

  2. Puns are the highest form of comedy.

And buntskin just sounds...gross, despite being part of a tasty cake.

Oh, and congrats, Yvie! Everyone's a winner on Falen Formulates Fiction! You could photoshop in a cape to that picture and you'd look like Krypto the Super Dog.

  3. Congratulations Yvie! What a fabulous picture Mommy took of you!
You're so graceful sailing over that pole, your fur is so brilliant, your eyes so bright, and your ears have glorious lift. What a wonderful sight! I'm sure all the other dogs who subsrcibe to the mafazine will be jealous!

  6. Such a svelte specimen of French bulldog-ness! Soaring over the competition...

(I think I'm going to write a short story using word verification.)

  7. WTG, Yvie!! You are the supreme ruler of Frenchies!

I also love a good punathon.

Buntskin can also mean skin that's fallen short in the growing process. That's the medical definition. And to be perfectly flonest...a derogatory name for short people.

zemical- an off brand of Nonogro.

  19. Teebore - i think the idea of skin on pudding is gross. but it's not so bad when you're eating it.

Lisa and Laura - i'd love some butterscotch pudding. the kind you cook on the stove. mmmm

    G - aww shucks. thanks!

Wendy - Yvie would love the attention, but as she's mommy and everyone else's favorite, she couldn't be gone for long.

  20. How awesome is this? I've been saving blogger verification words, but I'm trying to make drink recipes out of them. I never thought of actually giving them (hilarious) definitions like you have. Brilliant stuff.

Oh, and related to a post you put over on Fiction Groupie...

I think I'm going to name my firstborn son Daeus X. Makina (after our favorite contrived coincidence).

  21. Congrats Yvie, it's is well deserved.

  23. Postman - that is possibly the best name i've ever read...

Kimberly - i have to laugh every time i look at it

Southpaw - thanks! she certainly feels it's deserved...
