In Which I Participate In BuNoWriMo

In case you've noticed, I have a giant BuNoWriMo badge down on my right hand sidebar somewhere (it's pretty big and hard to miss)

What's BuNoWriMo? you may ask if you're not in the know. BuNoWriMo is a NoWriMo (novel writing month) put together by a group of friends called the Burrow. The goal is much the same as NaNo, pump out 50K in the month of June.

I signed up because it coincided perfectly with my need to start a new WIP to keep me distracted from querying and all the waiting.

We're already on day 8 and I'm on task, the new WIP is at 12K words, and I'm excited because I can tell it's already going to be longer than Glimpse (Which is a bit on the short side at 56K) which means I'll hopefully have a lot of room to prune if I need to.

What about you? Are you participating in BuNoWriMo? Or working on a new WIP?

  2. You are doing *another* 50K-words-in-a-month thing? Holy cow! Do you have some kind of special energy drink you need to be telling us lot about? You are some kind of Gambari-ko, Sarah! :-))

  3. I'm working on a WIP for BuNoWriMo, but I'm also preparing my MS for querying. I just want to lie down and go asleep.

  4. Okay, I'm not in the know, but I did start a new WiP last Friday (cuz the muse smacked me upside the head) and I do have almost 15k (cuz the muse smacked me again and I spend all weekend on the computer which is something I hardly ever do)

However, I can't do this b/c Monster Child gets out of school in two days and well, you know how that goes.

    But good luck to you!

  5. Read - who don't, amiright?

Yokohama - Hah! Nope, just my own determination! Though, to be fair, 50K in a month is no big deal for me

Christine - i hear that! AND writing always makes me sleepy, so there's that too

Anne - is this Robert's story? Because just based on what you've hinted at, it sounds awesome!

  7. So what's the over/under on how long before you just write a novel a month?

I can barely find the time to blog and you're cranking out books left and right...

  8. YAY! Thanks for the plug, Sarah! I love the WriMo system. I really feel like it works BOTH from a perspective of a deadline to get OTHER things out of the way AND because I think my final products end up best when I hammer out the main skeleton in a WriMo and then fill in the holes in a rewrite.

  9. @Teebore- your blog has been CRANKING out new posts- whachoo mean you can barely find time to blog? seems like you've been on fire recently!

  10. I always think these sound like a great idea (and thanks for breaking the meaning down). Might consider doing something like this myself. The WIP is looking sad and lonely right about now :) Hope you reach your goal Falen!

  12. @Anne: your blog has been CRANKING out new posts- whachoo mean you can barely find time to blog?

Well, I get it done, I just have to fight to find the time to do it, which doesn't leave me as much time for other writing (or other stuff) as I'd like.

Meanwhile, Sarah cranks out a book a month while revising something else, querying, AND watching tons of TV, reading tons of books and playing games.

Seriously, she's gotta be a Time Bender...

  13. Karen - thanks! they're a group of pals from a harry potter forum

Teebore - well, i could probably do a novel every 2 months if i wanted, but A, that would use up all my ideas pretty quickly, and B, they wouldn't get edited.
Also, to be fair, this is my first book for 2011. Glimpse's 1st draft was done in late 2010

Hart - Yay! And it works well for me becuase i don't really have to push myself to reach the word goals

    Anne - SNAP!

Ninja - do you participate in NaNoWriMo? because it's a lot of fun and you can meet tons of cool peeps

TL - thanks! I was hoping for a bit more, but some days have been a little tough for me

Teebore - man i wish! I mean, on an avg day i actually only watch about 3 hrs of tv, and one of that is while we're working out at 6am, one is during my lunch break, and one is during dinner. And querying actually just requires a lot of waiting

  17. You already know where I'm at...six pages revised. Sigh. Two more months of insanity and I won't have any money to do anything but write!

    Talli - thanks!
