In Which I Celebrated My Birth

So a few weeks ago I celebrated a b-day and got some fun writerly and readerly things from the fam.

The first was a Kindle! Yay! I've been wanting an e-reader for a while now.

Kindle Touch 3G

Youngest sister, who's living in Chicago while she goes to college at Columbia, sent me an amazon gift card to use on Kindle accessories. I don't know about anyone else, but I love to buy accessories for things. I mean, getting something that lets you do more shopping? That's just awesome!

So I bought a kindle skin, to make it look pretty.

And then I bought a lighted leather cover.

the kindle powers the light. No batteries needed

Bro got me the last 3 of the rangers apprentice series, which is awesome because I love this series and am both excited to finish it, and sad it will be done.

Parents also sneakily got me an awesome necklace.

Sneakily because they had to get it at renfest. And the only time they were at renfest was with the rest of us. Twin explained that once last summer our mom had disappeared to get some cider. But when she came back she didn't have any. I must've been preoccupied about something because I didn't even question it, and normally that would've been something that got my suspicions up. Because I am a suspicious person by nature.

It's a talisman for poets and writers. The info says:

These symbols are said to create a powerful magic to help one find the right word at the most opportune moment.

On the backside of this talisman (top picture) is the "Seal of Eloquence" or the "Seal of Mercury". It contains the names of powerful angels, magical words, and Latin phrases, all of which help to greatly increase the power of the Talisman.

Concentrating on the endless knot work of the six-pointed star will intensify "natural inspiration" and assist in all of your writing endeavors... poems, plays and books, even your personal journal!

So there you have it! I got a few other present with Twin, but they aren't related to writing or reading.

So do you have an e-reader? Did you buy fun accessories for it?

Rightious birthday presents! love the necklace, although I couldn't wear it. Love the Kindle, which maybe if I'm a good girl, I might get one for my birthday.

I have a Nook, which I don't accessorize. Heck, I barely accessorize myself. LOL. If I walk out dressed enough not to scare anyone, I'm content.

Ref: talsiman
Love it!! I want one.

I LOVE my Nook. I travel a lot. It's so nice to bring along only a small lightweight ereader.

And its perfect for working out.

I didn't get super fancy though with accessories. I bought a cover...

Yup, that's pretty much it :)

Happy Bday!

You decorated your Kindle nice! I have a black, soft cover for my iPad. Can't imagine carrying one without any protection.

My wife has a Kindle Fire and all the same type of accessories you have (skin, cover). For her its so much more than a device...its a fashion accessory! :)

I could never get the damn lighted cover to work for mine, but I like the one I have well enough. Enjoy!

I have a Kindle, and it makes me jealous how there are so many more covers and skins for the Ipad and Nook. Or I find one I like, and it's over $40, or not made for my edition. It's like come on, that's have the price of a new (basic) Kindle.

First of all, Happy (Belated) Birthday. Second? That Kindle skin is pretty durn cool. Don't you just love the gear? I just got a Nissan Cube, and I wanna trick it out with special seat covers and a Chinese Dragon bobble head, which is turning out to be very hard to find!

Cool gifts! I didn't get a skin for my Kindle, but I did buy the cover. Mine doesn't light up, though. Darn.

LOVE the necklace. I'm going to have to look for one at our next renfest. :))

ooh, I like your Kindle skin. I'm sure I'll decorate the hell out of my iPad when I get it. Until then, I just have my phone with the Kindle app. Schweetness!! I can now let you know when there's super cheap books on Amazon.

Love the skin! I have a leather cover, but I hadn't seen the skins before. And LOVE the writer's amulet! It's wonderful!

Oh, pretty Kindle decorations!

But more importantly, that necklace! Were you wearing it yesterday? I think you were. I think I was going to ask about it but didn't.

Happy belated birthday to you and twin!

Very nice necklace! When I got my Kindle, the first thing I did was go out and get accessories for it. I got myself a hemp cover that makes it look like an arcane tome (it smells like a carpet shop, though).

The first was a Kindle! Yay!

Traitor. :)

I totally would have been suspicious of your mom too. She's lucky you had enough distractions.

I got the leather cover with the light too! Love it! :) So have you stocked your Kindle up with reads yet?

Happy Belated Birthday! Wicked awesome haul.

I have 2 e-readers. The first version NOOK and my significant other got me the NOOK color before I went in for surgery on my Birthday this past July.

I'm addicted to reading on the Nook Color, simply because it's back-lit and great for reading at night. Both have leather covers. (Hugs)Indigo

Not only did I dress my Kindle in fancy outfits, I gave it a name. Yes, I have a problem. :)
