In Which There Are Animals

This is a continuation of my MN Renfest posts regarding the season of fun that was had. For food and costume pics, see yesterday and monday.

MN Renfest has a surprising amount of animals. Of course, it helps that you're allowed to bring your own dogs. But look pretty much anywhere and you can find some sort of animal, possibly in costume.

We tend to bring Tula at least once each year. She behaves fantastically, also she's period authentic since the MN Renfest takes place during the Italian Renaissance and Tula is a Spinone Italiano.

awww, puppy Tula! Back before she got giant

Onto the animal pics!

Frenchie Puppy! Full of squeee!

shop dog at Beowulf Clothing

Seamus the tortoise

He wears a kilt

cart horse

piglets at the petting zoo

sorry to tell you this, people, but your "irish wolfhound" has some poodle in him

Yay puppies!

the MN herpetological society has a booth every year

War horse rides anyone?

This is Katie

And this is Daisy

If horses don't do it for you, how about elephants?

You can ride them, or camels if you prefer

Tomorrow, my final renfest post, will be about some activities one can partake in as well as a few miscellaneous photos.

The choral group I sing with does a renaissance feast program at Christmas. It's a hoot. It's all in period costume with period music. I love it! If I summon up the courage maybe I'll post a pic this year...but then maybe not. I'm pretty camera shy.

I don't know who's scarier, the yellow snake or the guy holding it.

Yay Puppies, yay horses, yay Tula, yay for tortoises in kilts, yay yay yay.

Someday I'll get to a Renfest or Ren Faire. Maybe when Monster Baby is bigger.

OMG! I want a snake so bad!!! Maybe I can convince Sam when we move next year...

you totes should do it! But even better, adopt one instead of purchasing- i'm sure there are plenty of homeless reptiles looking for a home. What would you name him?

Man these posts make me miss renfest real bad already

The snakes would give me the heebie geebies, but I loved everything else, especially the kilted tortoise!

I'm with Anne/PW--that first snake guy? He's as scary as his evil yellow snake. *shudder*

But how much do I love the kilt wearing tortoise seams!!!?! SO MUCH!

Sarah Ahiers said...

Hannah - well MN is one of the states where you can legally own one, so...

Holly - he is indeed!

Shannon - there is indeed much cuteness

Stephanie - it definitely is

Lola - he's so adorable too, just walking around the fest, earning tips for his cuteness

LOL - I loved the tortoise in the kilt!!! Awesome!!! The horses and the elephants. All of it. What a fun time it looks like you had. =D

Yay, I love animals. <3 The puppies were adorable! Thanks for posting!

So how many people screw up Tula's breed when you're there?

She strikes me as the type that people who don't know better would come up and say "oh, it's a ___ " and be wrong.

Sarah Ahiers said...

RaShelle - He's a pretty awesome tortoise. Kids love him

Shelley - the amount of cute dogs you can see every weekend is great

Teebore - oh pretty much everyone who sees her. Though this year someone knew what she was because they also had a Spinone. For some reason she got a lot of "irish wolfhound" this year...

Austin Gorton said...

I think Irish Wolfhound might be the new "it" dog this year, or something.

Sarah Ahiers said...

Teebore - i guess. She's not anywhere close in size though

OMG--the tortoise in kilt. That just made my day! (can*not* show that to oldest son--he'll be all "mama! I want a tortoise!", and I'll have to be all, "No! We already have a turtle, a lizard, and a box full of crickets!")

And *sigh*, I want to ride the war horse, too. But not the elephant, thank you. Did that in Thailand--got car sick. I had no idea you could get car sick riding an elephant...
