Bernard Pivot Blogfest

Nicole, from One Significant Moment At A Time is hosting a fun blogfest today!

The Bernard Pivot Blogfest!

Here are the deets:

This blogfest is designed to bring as many of us together, to get to know each other better. And I thought it'd be fun to use Bernard Pivot's famous questionnaire to do it.

Anyone who's watched Inside the Actor's Studio will be familiar with the questionnaire. The show's host, James Lipton, asks it of every celebrity guest at the close of the interview. The questionnaire was originally created by Bernard Pivot, a French journalist, for the cultural series he hosted on French television from 1991-2001, called Bouillon de Culture.

What I love about the questionnaire is you can either answer the questions with all the truth in your heart, or you can approach them with creativity and cleverness -- finding answers or deliveries no one else has ever come up with. But which ever way you go, each of your answers will be revealing, telling us interesting things about you.

What a fun way to get to know each other better, right?

So here I go!

What is your favorite word?
Lately, I've been digging Apropos.

What is your least favorite word?
Gah. I dunno. How about Squeal? Yeah, that'll do

What turns you on creatively?
Movies. Other books. Dreams.

What turns you off?
Work. Being sleepy

What is your favorite curse word?
Fuck. Though, as Seth Green pointed out on Inside the Actor's Studio (in reference to Tom Hank's interview on Inside the Actor's Studio) Horse-Shit is quite awesome.

What sound or noise do you love?
I do enjoy the sound of snow falling. You have to be reaaaaal quiet to hear it. Also the hooting owl in my backyard gets a smile out of me every time

What sound or noise do you hate?
When you scrape the ice off of windows with your fingernails. Gah, I just threw up in my mouth a bit

What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?
Is this being realistic? Cuz if it isn't, then a super hero. Fact.
If it's serial, then a teacher.

What profession would you not like to do?
I really have no desire to be an actress.

If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?
So you found us, eh?

But if you were a super-hero then It'd be nice if you were also an actress, so we could watch you doing super-hero stuff in movies. Oh, wait - I'm confusing reality with fiction!

Fun answers! Snow falling is wonderful - though I hope we're done with it this year!

Snow falling is awesome. I would probably pick thunder and rain. Puts me to sleep every time.

Also, I woke up in the middle of the night a few days ago to...an owl!!! It was the creepiest thing eva! I loved it. Then I went to sleep dreaming he was killing all rodents. sigh.

That is so YOU. :)

LMAO! LOVE the last answer!!!

And the ice scraping with fingernails? Must be a northern thing...

Hilarious! I loved the super hero answers, and when you threw up in your mouth, I laughed out loud!

Thanks for playing along!

Great answers and the cutest little baby pig EVER.

Tony - oh, if i was a superhero, the world would know. This i promise

Margo - yeah i hear that. I need spring and summer ASAP

Hannah - yeah i agree. Unless it's like a HUGE storm, then i worry about the house being destroyed. Ah the joys of home-ownership.
And was your owl the 8 hooter?! Did it go: "Who hoots for you, who hoots for yooooouuu?"
Also, when did you change your pic?

Maria - aww, thanks. ;)

Summer - it's probably just me being a freak thing. But it is HORRIBLE! It's like a mini version of nails on a chalkboard, combined with the squeakiness of ice

Nicole - thanks for hosting! It was a lot of fun!

Vicki - isn't he just? I want to pick him up and kiss him!

First, I love Babe...and quote from it all the time, ESPECIALLY: "That'll do, Pig, that'll do." But, as cute as the movie is, that wittle piglet saying hoomin is a million times cuter!! ZOMG. The cuteness. I want to hug him and squeeze him and kiss him right on the snout.

I vote for you being a superhero! What would your superpower be?

Huggles,
Lola

Hannah said...

Twas just recently. I was getting tired of the other one.

And I don't think it was an 8 hooter...

Jules said...

I'm so glad you mentioned Actor's Studio for days I could not remember the shows name. So, if you were a super hero would you be willing to teach super heroness? :)

Lately, I've been digging Apropos.

I had a professor in college who used that word ALL THE TIME. Like, to the point where we would tick off everything he'd say it during a lecture, and we'd run out of room on the paper. It was awesome. It's a good word.

"Fuck" is totally my favorite swear word too. There are others that are better, or more funny, but nothing as versatile.

I liked the snowfall answer

Summer Ross said...

Super hero- that would be fun.
Great answers!

Ok first of all, awesome picture, nothing better then a little pig with baby fuzz.

Seth Green is right, horseshit is fun to say.

Being a teacher is the best job ever.... I've been a teacher for 10 years now and it's pretty much the best gig out there.

Heather said...

This is awesome!! Love it!

Lindsay said...

lol. Love the answer to the last question. Oh, and that little piglet picture is soooo cute!

Southpaw said...

That’s one cute little piggy!

Apropos is an awesome word. I’m going to use it today, just for fun.

You sure to have to be quiet, real quiet, to hear that snow falling. ;)

Shannon O'Donnell said...

First, I totally LOVE that adorable pig picture. I just want to pull him out of my screen and keep him! :-)

Love your answers, esp. #4 and 10.

Jessica Bell said...

Super hero? Yeah, can I join ya?

Kittie Howard said...

OMG, I almost wrote the 'sound of snow falling' then decided a gentle rain won by a drop (a Louisiana thing, I think.) Anyway, I'm like a kid when the first flakes fall (we're in Virginia for a bit) and stand at the window and look and look. Yes, a magical ear can hear the flakes.

Think I have post-traumatic-pizza syndrome. Friends came for pizza the other night. My cutter broke. Had to uses a scissors! OY!

Lola - babe is one of those movies you can watch over and over again

Hannah - i've only heard an 8 hooter once. *shakes head sadly*

Jules - Hells to the yeah i would! That would be awesome!

Teebore - exactly. Also you can use like this: Fuckity Fuck Fuck. And: Fuck a Duck

John - thanks!

Jen - it's great, right? A slight tinkling, maybe some rustling - it's awesome

Summer - i mean, let's get real here. Who WOULDN'T want to be a superhero, amiright?

Erinn - i was planning on being a teacher. Then i just wasn't *shrugs*

Heather - thanks!

Lindsay - i just want to cuddle him!

Holly - I've been using it a lot lately. MAAAAYBE a little too much...

Shannon - digging your pink hair ;) I really got to send them my pic.

Jessica - hells yeah! Half the fun of being a superhero is other superheroes.

Kittie - OMG, sciossors?! Shut The Front Door! How did you even manage?

Unknown said...

How can you be down on squeal and have a piggy here too?
I love all soft sounds and nearly all movies :)

Kristin Rae said...

I wish I could hear snow falling right now... we've only gotten hit with ice a few times this year.

And that little PIG IS THE MOST PRECIOUS THING I'VE EVER EVER EVER SEEEEEEEN!!!!!! I WANT TO SCOOP HIM UP AND CUDDLE HIM AND COVER HIM IN LITTLE KISSES!!!! AAAHHHHHH!!!!!

Arlee Bird said...

I forgot about dreams-- that's a good one. Sometimes a dream can inspire my day.
And the sound of snow falling--yes, I've experience that. What a beautiful image of the stillness of listening closely to that which is almost unhearable.

Snow falling and scraping ice with the fingernails? I think I get you with the snow falling, but honestly I'm never that quiet. But in my entire life I have never scraped ice off my car with my fingernails. Ewww.

Shelley Sly said...

Love your answers and love the picture! How cool that you have an owl outside your house. Lucky. :)

Lisa Potts said...

Snow definitely makes a sound when it's falling. Great answers. Love the piggy.

DL Hammons said...

I'm a grouch when I'm sleepy too!! :)

Corinne O said...

I love the sound of snow falling too. Such a peaceful sound. I seem to be following DL Hammons through the blogfest list. Hi DL! ;)

I adore that little piglet at the end. Thanks for the smile!

Corinne

Al said...

does that mean being sleepy at work is a double turn off?

Sarah Ahiers said...

Elaine - it's pretty apropos, right? (see what i did there?)

Kristin - we have fog right now. Fog drifiting over mounds of snow is weird. And i think we all deserve a piggy like that

Arlee - i hate when you have a crappy dream that ruins your day. It takes forever to get out of your system

Kari - it's pretty common here when you're kids, like scraping the ice off the inside window of your front door, or the school bus. If it's cold enough, that ice gets through

Shelley - yeah we love him! I'm always afraid he'll go away

Lisa - it does! And it's awesome. Thanks!

DL - being sleepy is just anti-productive towards all things except going to bed

Corinne - it's a great sound. Thanks!

Al - oh most definitely! when i'm sleepy at work is when i most want to take a nap.

Hart Johnson said...

What about squeee... can I squeeee? I never actually squeal, but I squeee a alot... and that is officially the cutest little pig I've ever seen!

Talli Roland said...

Yeah, I don't like squeal, either. Or Squee!

Love the photo!

Nate Wilson said...

Apropos of something, I think you'd make an excellent superhero. Have you decided on a name yet?

And that, dear Sarah, is an excellent greeting from God. I hope I'd get something similar. That, or "How'd you get out?"

Theres just life said...

Love the piggy picture.
Good answers. Isn't teacher and super hero the same thing???

Um note to any soon to be dead people, when you arrive, do not complain about the terrible directions. (evidently they are aware of the situation and it's kind of an entertainment in vanilla world) I swear to horse-crap they are so touchy about it they sent my azz back!
