Insecure Writer's Support Group

First Wednesday of the month which means it's another edition of Insecure Writer's Support Group

So besides having to see a CPA this week, I have another new thing happening soon, and that's getting my edit letter for ALL THAT REMAINS.

Of course I wrote this post on Sunday, so there's a chance I already have the edit letter. Either way, you're reading this in the future! (How's it going? Have you bowed down to our robot overlords yet?)

In general I'm feeling pretty fine about all this. There's really not a point to worry about anything, at least certainly not before I've seen her notes.

But when I do have small moments of fear it's all because I've never done this before and I really have no idea what to expect.

I'm sure it will all be fine. And even if I do freak out a bit (I won't) all I have to remember is to just take a day or two to gather myself and get down to work.

So, yeah. The good news is, of course, that edit notes means one step closer for ATR to reach publication which is so awesome that 99% of the time it still doesn't feel real. And I'm not sure that will ever change.

Anyway, there you have it. Fears and junk.

How are things with you?

The future is fine - join us!
It's not as scary as you might think. And usually whatever they suggest is exactly what the story needs. So no worries.

When I first saw my edits letter, I was mortified the editor found anything wrong with it. LOL!

But it wasn't as bad as all that. I've looked forward to the editor's feedback ever after.

No dice on the robot overlords, I'm afraid. Besides, I'm pretty sure our overlords will be feline. :-D

Good luck with your upcoming edits! I'm sure the letter will be fine.

Seeking advice from a CPA now sounds like a smart forward-thinking move. You must be a plotter and not a pantser, LOL. And that edit letter is a road map to get you to where you need to go! It will be great! Have fun with making your book even better.

I can see why getting an edit letter is simultaneously scary and exciting. But overall, it's a good thing! Good luck with your edits. :)

GRRM gets an edit letter and probably tosses it in the garbage. You should do the same. Oh, and if you take my advice, you're insane. :) *hugs

Robot overlords? Nope, but I am saving all my spare change for when vending machines become the dominant race.

I think you'll rock the edits. I also think waiting is probably more scary than the actually getting down to business.

It's always good to step out there and try new things! It might be a bit scary, but it is incredibly exciting at the same time!

Its all scary right up until the story is published, then begins a new kind of scary.

I'm sure looking forward to a three day weekend!

It's all good. Just take a deep breath when you open it up, knowing that it may be pages, but that doesn't mean your manuscript is messy, it only means you have a good editor who spent a lot of time making suggestions to make your story sing even more than it does already! Good luck. I am waiting for revision notes myself. hehehe.

The professional editors are always very kind. They know your book has already been bought, so their job is to work with you--I'm sure this went brilliantly!
