In Which We Find Things In The Yard

The posts this week will be quick and easy since I'm on a "staycation" this week and so will mostly be checked out of the interwebs.

So, as the title says, we've found some things in the yard recently.

The first is another shrew in the egress window. I got pictures this time so you can see how strangely innocent they look. But they aren't. They aren't.

The second thing we had in our yard was this AWESOME mushroom. Check this baby out.

The yard was even mowed around the mushroom, so as not to disturb it. But alas, one of the dogs stepped on it and took a chunk out, so we pulled it up. Here's a picture so you can get an idea of the awesome size of this.

Anyone else get awesome mushrooms in their yards?

That's one big mushroom!! None in our yard - which is probably a good thing.

Holy Humongous Fungus! We don't get too many mushrooms in our home's yard, but our cabin gets all kinds of alien-like fungi.

Wicked cool! The 'shroom looks like a brain. eewwww

What did you do with the shrew?

Sarah Ahiers said...

Piedmont - we just let him go over the fence in the park. I'm pretty sure he wasted no time in scurrying back into the yard through the long grass

The little shrew is too adorable! It's hard to believe their lack of innocence, so I'll have to take your word for it.

That mushroom is a monster, and in that last picture looks strangely like a monster potato.

That shrew is kind of cute. Plus Lola metioned an Ice Palace? Did you do a Winter Carnival post?

Lola - Literary Win!

B. Miller - yeah we were sad when it got ruined

Clarissa - i guess so, though it doesn't seem like it when you interact with them

Kelly - they scream and try to attack things. And yes, it does look like a potato!

Maria - Ha!

Matthew - i have not, but maybe i will this year

whoa. We get huge mushrooms. They just got dwarfed. (except for the mutant one).

Sarah Ahiers said...

BlackRose - yeah that is not an accurate representation of our usual mushrooms

AHH! Creepy. Shrews = creepy
Mushrooms = even more creepy
Shrews + Mushrooms = Super, Super Creepy

Sarah Ahiers said...

Aching - it would be kind of awesome if there had been a shrew kingdom beneath the mushroom. But there wasn't. Just millipedes

Funny, this is the second blog today I've seen featuring a monster mushroom growing in blogger's yard. Makes me want to write a science-fiction story about mysterious mushrooms!

Falan - Mmmm, that sounds like an interesting Children's Story...
