In Which I Seek Your Opinion

So we hit renfest for about 2 hours on Sunday. It was beastly hot (90 and humid) so we only stayed for about 1.5 hours, just enough to get some food and book it. Which is why it's awesome to have season passes.

And yet, I somehow managed to drop about $300. Crazy right?

I plan on doing full renfest posts, with pictures, once the season is done, so I'll show you what I bought then.

Of course, part of what I bought were prizes for my 200 followers contest. There will be 3 winners.

However, I would like your opinion:

What kind of contests do you like to enter?
Writing contests?
Plain ol' drawings?
Drawings with a little creativity thrown in?

I'm pretty open (and the prizes pretty sweet), though I'm leaning away from a full fledged writing contest just because I'm so bloody busy right now.

So let me know in the comments. I'm planning the contest for sometime next week, hopefully, so there will be pics of the renfest, writing related prizes then.

Huzzah!

As long as the directions aren't complicated, I'll play.

When you have the attention span of a hummingbird, the rules have to be simple. :o)

hannah - i did indeed and it was delicious!

Anne - pshaa, get your own berries and cream

Maria - i'm pro simple directions so you don't have to worry there

Anne, I agree with Sarah. It's like cheese curds. You touch one and you die. Get your own damn cheese curds and berries and cream!

We could use some hot weather here - it already feels too much like fall.

As far as contests go, I prefer the simple just enter kind. A little creativity is good but my writing time goes towards my WIP, not entries. (Boy, did that sound opinionated - sheesh)

I rather enjoy strength contests, although I’ve never won one (1-1?).

All the best, Boonie

@ Hannah-
it's so interesting that you bring up cheese curds! Ask sarah how many of my curds she had while she was enjoying berries and cream

@Boonie- ha! you win. Want to arm wrestle?!

Well, I like writing contests. But I too am ass busy, so I won't mind if you eschew that this time.

Just don't make me have to post your contest all over FB/Twitter/my blog/etc. You've got enough followers already. ;)

Oh, and Huzzah!

(I really wish my B&N schedule for Sept. was up so I'd know when I can go to RenFest).

I'm too busy for a writing contest, and have been too swamped to enter most contests in general, but if it's kind of simple and not time-consuming, I'd really like to enter.

Can't wait to see renfest pics!

Is there still a buff little black dude that works there? Plays Enoch the Jester or something like that? Goes by the nickname Shorty Buff? If so I know that dude.

I haven't entered any yet, so the sky's the limit on contests. Looking forward to hearing about the fest.

Yay, RenFest! I went there a while ago and ate a ginormous turkey leg. 'Twas delish. I'd like one right now, actually.

Contests...eh, I don't like pimping them to every person on the planet in order to get a snowball's chance. Fairness and all that. But whatevs! I'll do anything if a turkey leg is the prize! :)

Sarah Ahiers said...

thanks everyone!

Summer - no turkey legs for prizes. And there may be a bit of pimpage, but not enough to skew the chances of anyone who doesn't want to pimp

Anne - i only at like 2, maybe 3, curds. And besides, the portion size of berries and cream was much smaller this year

Boonie - a feat of strengthi would be AWESOME!

Matthew - ummm, no. At least not that i've ever seen. There's a new jester who has a squeaky voice. Twin works with someone who knows him

Teebore - so much has changed since the last time you've been...

I'm a bit late to the opinion party, but I think drawings with creativity are a great way to merge the simple and the fun.

I'm sure whatever you decide to do will be great!

If you DO writing, then SHORT. A drabble or limerick would be good.

Drawings with creativity are good.

The contests I rarely do require me to run around all over. Share here, tweet there, blog about it. It isn't that in theory I MIND, it is just that I never have the time and forget to come back to it, so I don't enter them. So something one-stop...

I think some uber short writing or a drawing contest would be awesome (by drawing I include Photoshopping too, since that's as close to real art as I can get hehe).
