In Which Summer Flies By

So here we are, mid august already. Can you believe it? Where the hell did the summer go?

We're also in the midst of WriteOnCon. Are you participating? I had plans to go cray cray with it this year, but, just like last year, it's kind of poor timing for me. I reeeeeeally want to finish my draft asap (maybe this week) so it's kind of a "do I spend time at the writing conference, or do I like, you know, write?" conundrum for me.

Writing seems to be winning out. Good thing you can rewatch all the live events and stuff.

Writing has also interfered with both my QueryTracker Forum visits AND some of my blog visits. I recently switched up my schedule a bit. I used to read blogs in the morning and write in the afternoon. Now, though, I've flipped that. Writing needs to come first. So, while I get back into the groove of visiting all your blogs, you'll probably see comments from me later in the day. Hopefully the drafting will be done asap and then I can really get back into the interwebs groove of things

I always seem to forget how actually busy I get in the summer, especially once renfest starts. MMMMMM...renfest food...

This is probably a good note for me to remember - don't start a new WIP in the summer. If I need to write, to distract from queries or something, short stories are probably the way to go.

So, how's writing going for you?

I haven't done any for weeks! I'm working like a dog trying to get my bank account a little higher than zero :o) LOL

I like to browse the forums of WRiteOnCon after it's done. Feels less stressful that way.

good luck with the writing!

No WriteOnCon for me (although I will probably do some late night reading over there). I'm like you. Right now, I'm focused on my WIP at the moment. Good luck with finishing this week!

I've been loving writeoncon! I don't have a query to post, but I've been stalking the site reading everyone else's....I love seeing what people are writing.

And boo to summer going by fast...I start back at school Friday. :(

I've been checking out the Q & A sessions after the fact on WriteOnCon. Good stuff.

Also, summer is over at my house. My son starts high school tomorrow. Can't believe it.

Good luck with the Ren fest. So much fun.

I manage to finish my first draft so I'm focusing on the re-writes. Well, that and the whole name change thing.

It certainly did seem like a short summer.

No WriteOnCon for me. I just have too much on my plate right now.

I usually pop in later and read at my leisure.

I had high hopes of participating in WriteOn Con this year, but I felt so overwhelmed. I think I'll get more out of it if I watch/catch up once it's all over. And yeah, other stuff is in the way. Like a new story and work. :)

Welcome back to the swing of things. Your list of what you did on your Staycation was great! Perfect MN experience!

Jessica - OMG! Me too! I am so so broke right now do to house things breaking and pets breaking. I'm sad, too, because i'd been saving really good up until about three weeks ago

Tracey - ooh! Good luck with your WIP - the good thing with writeoncon is it's all there to read later

Rachele - aww! But at least the first day of school is always fun

LG - i can't believe how early in the summer kids start school now. What happened to the day after labor day?

LD - hah! i was like, Whoa, name change. Goodluck with the rewrites

maria - yeah, that's what i've been doing. I've only read like 2 or 3 articles and figure i'll hit most of them later

TL - i hear that with the other things getting in the way. Still, i'm glad it's the WIP for me that's mostly the reason. And YAY MN!

Hey Falen!
You know, it's so funny (well, to me) b/c I signed up for WriteOnCon, right? And then I realized I probably shouldn't have used my blog user name >.< They're having those Ninja agents, and I was about to comment on someone's query, mentioning that I remembered it from MSFV contest when I was like, "They'll probably think Ninja Girl is one of the agents." Doh! So, I'm trying not to post or even go into the forums too much, don't want to cause any confusion. I feel like the victim of ninja identity theft lol!
Anyway, I finished my third manuscript last week YAYAYAYAYAYYAYA! I wish you so much luck on yours. It is killer starting/working through the summer, but you can do it :)
Hope you're doing great,
Ninja Girl

Ninja - Hah!!! I could totally see that being confusing. And yay for finishing your third MS! This will be my third (completed) MS as well, and i have to say, i am LOVING it

I had high hopes for this summer--but it seems like every time I carve out a little extra time for writing, something else fills the void. Come on Powerball, where are you?

You comment when it's convenient - writing comes first!

Ugh... summer officially ends for me next Tuesday, and I'm spending my last days of freedom sick with a cold. Blah. That, and the fact that I'm just too swamped with real life stuff are the reason why I'm not participating in WriteOnCon, though I hear it's a great experience.

Writing? What's that? I'm just glad I'm still blogging regularly.

And seriously, where the hell did the summer go? Wasn't it just May?

Writing has taken a back seat for me while I focus on blogging and reviewing. Though I'm writing articles for my work (non fantasy related) which is pretty cool, so I'm at least flexing my creative muscle now and again :)

Sarah Ahiers said...

Julie - oh man. Winning the lottery...i can't even express how awesome that would be

Alex - aww thanks! But no worries, i'll definitely still hit up your blog

Shelley - BOO on summer colds! And that stinks about summer ending so soon for you

Teebore - shit, i'm pretty sure we just celebrated our february birthday a few weeks ago!

Jamie - hey, every little bit of writing counts

I would just like to say i know exactly what you mean about renfest foods. I grew up and still live near white bear.

Also its ok that writing is winning out it means there is passion there :)

Glad you're getting your writing done. You won't regret that. I'm writing and editing like mad. I wish I had waited until September but I'm glad I didn't put it off.
